I seem to see a lot of ignorant parents in the public these days. Some of the ignorant actions that I see:

1. Leaving their children run wild in a public place. The
children are running around in grocery isles sometimes
not even in the same isle with their parents. I had a
co-workerer who when she saw this situation, would tell the
child ” Your parents don’t love you”. Not sure if that’s
a good thing to do. But it is dangerous for the child in many ways.
( Could get hit with a cart, run into something sharp or hard, or
someone could steal them).

2. Lock their child in a car while they run in to do some
fast shopping. It is hard to believe that parents would do that in these dangerous days. I remember reading when a parent forgot he had the child in the backseat. He went to work and did his presentation. It was a hot summer day. When he remembered, he found his child dead. He was indicted and the jury found him innocent. This jury was forgiving.
I am not. He should have spent time in prison.

3. Physically or verbally abusing a child in public:

A. Sometimes they are pulling their child so hard you could
see the child winch.

B. Putting their hand over the child’s mouth so he could
not talk. Many times they are talking on a cell phone
at the same time. You can see from the child’s xpression expression that it was painful.

C. Hollering at a child in public. It is so embarrassing
for the child and could have an emotional effect..

Many of these establishments have hidden surveillance cameras You think they could run these tapes and catch these ignorant parents and use a stun gun on
them.

Thirty years ago, hidden surveillance cameras were for governments,

corporations and a few rich people. Now because they are affordable and

easy to install, many people are using them for many different reasons:

1. Checking on their babysitter or nanny.

2. Small businesses are using them to counter theft.

3. Checking on their spouse or lover.

4. Checking on their pets.

5. Protecting their home or vacation property

The

hidden surveillance camera is available in all kinds of venues( teddy

bears, wall clock, dolls, alarm clocks, hair dryers and almost anything

you have in your house} So you can take your pick and have “piece of

mind.”

A Cleveland Plain Dealer used this phrase when a Cleveland policeman killed a bank robber who fled and then reached for something in his car. The policeman killed (5) people in his 35 year career. Serial killer? I don’t think so. The policeman was off-duty and the robber happened to rob the bank where the policeman was banking. The cop chased him out the bank.
A lesser cop wouldn’t even bother.

None of us( unless you’re a policeman) know what we would do in that split second when you suspect the criminal is reaching for a gun. The only weapon the reporter is familiar with is a pen or a laptop. I would like to see her out in the street and confront these criminals instead of drinking coffee and typing out this garbage on the computer.

The Cleveland police force do use a taser
but this wasn’t practical in this case.

We need to support the police. This writer (Regina Brett) did nothing to help the situation,
She helped make the public especially the youth more skeptical of the police She just wrote an article (which stated she didn’t know what is like to be black in America). She also doesn’t know what is like to be a policeman in an urban city.

There is a new website walkscore.com which gives you a walkable score on your neighborhood.
Just put in your address and the website maps schools, libraries, restaurants, parks and services within a mile radius. The top (3) cities with high walkable scores are San Francisco, New York and Boston. The 40th is Jacksonville, Fla.

The algorithm gives points based on the distance to the nearest anemity in each category. The points are added and normalized for scores between 0 ( no where to walk to) and 100 ( walker’s paradise )

The downfall to this score:

1. It calculates distances in a straight line assuming you could swim through a lake or cross (6) lanes of traffic

2. It doesn’t consider hills, weather, public transportation, SAFETY, or the aesthetics of a neighborhood.

I wished it would have considered safety by using crime reports etc.
I know I consider safety. My neighborhood score is 65 which saids ” somewhat walkable” what ever that means.

But when I walk I carry a
runt stun gun
and a pepperspray
I suggest you do the same. Times have changed. I remember when you can walk the streets in safety and you didn’t even lock your home doors.
But as you know, it’s different now. But I refuse to let the criminals dictate my life style.

Five things I hate about some cashiers:

1. Talking on the cell phone instead of waiting on you. They turn their back toward you and pretend that you are not there.

2. They talk to their co-workers while they are waiting on you. If you ask a question, they look at you like your the “bad guy”.

3. They don’t have any system of checking items out. They scan the item and leave it in the same spot.

4. If the price doesn’t come up on the register at the sales price, they don’t know what to
do. They try to get hold of the manager . They have that angry look that you are causing trouble.

5. They think they’re doing you a favor by checking you out. ( They could be talking on their cell phone.) Here you go. You’re all set. But not Thank You.

I probably would use a stun master stun gun rather than a
pepper spray . I feel that strongly about that.

But I don’t blame the cashiers as much as I do the manager. He sees stuff like that and doesn’t do anything about it.

Notice that I said SOME cashiers do things like that. But there are many who do a great job in making your purchase a pleasure. Thank you to those cashiers.

I was on my sun porch looking out in the yard with my cat and my dog. We are all looking forward to something in the day. The dog is looking forward to his next walk while the cat is looking forward to his next meal. ( She is always hungry). I am looking forward to the start of the baseball games. I am a “baseball nut” who listens to different games on XM radiio or on the computer. It relaxes me.. It also allows me to do something else while I am listening to the game. ( Like working on my websites)

I have friends who are looking forward to their daily bicycle ride or jog. I convinced them to carry a runt stun gun ,
pepper spray , or personal alarm. Isn’t it a shame you have to worry about being attacked or mugged while you are doing your favorite activity? Don’t we have a right to look forward to something without fear?

Besides packing personal defense items, I recommend taking martial arts training. Some of the websites have free video training classes. I checked out a few of them and they do a great job.

Let’s not let the criminals dictate our life style. Practice self defense.

I read a story about a San Diego man who shot his wife 150 times with a stun gun. I never thought of that purpose for a stun gun. The next time my wife messes up a meal or refuses to give me a foot massage. Sting ! Sting!

The husband pleaded out and received (3) years probation and ordered to take domestic violence classes. What a joke? Another example of justice system giving a slap of the wrist to the abuser. Domestic violence classes; no kidding..

So you women: Be nice to your husbands. You hear!
